Do not be afraid to pile up snow in your garden or flower beds. The deep snow will act like insulation and keep the earth below a little above freezing.

How to Organic Garden "The Bucket List"
How To Organic Garden and the bucket list....
It's time for the beginers to gather up some buckets. Five gallon buckets green or black in color work best for our gardens. We use buckets to compost in the gardens where we grow tomatos. I am going to include a rough sketch of how we do this in this post. In our system we bury a 5 gallon bucket about 8 inches deep in the garden. The bucket has holes drilled in it about 1 1/2 inches from the bottom and a large wire cage attached to the top lip. A tomato is planted on either side and we add hot organic compost material to the buckets. When we water we only water in the buckets and we always prune the plants so that no foilage is below the top of the bucket. The dark colored bucket helps warm the ground and provides constant food, water and air circulation for the plants.
This systems works so well for us that we have been building these buckets for our locals for years. I'll have pics of the ones I use as soon as the snow melts. This is a simplified description of how we do it but there is only so much room to write during the super bowl. COMPOST TEA FOR YOUR ORGANIC GARDEN
How to orgainic garden with Compost Tea
Cheap and easy to make compost tea is a real
"Kick in the pants" for garden and lawn soils.
The good bacteria created in this process spread
like wildfire through your underground ecosystem
Here is what you need,,,,,
1-5 gallon plastic bucket
1- Black Strap Molasses (any brand)
1-old t shirt or cheese cloth
1-bug sprayer
How to....
Fill the bucket 3/4 full of water and let sit
overnight. Pour in 1 cup of molasses and 4 cups
good garden soil. MIX. Let the mixture sit in a warm
spot for three days and stir once. Let mix sit 3 more
days then strain through t-shirt or cheese cloth into
sprayer. Apply aound the base of growing plants or
directly onto lawns or garden beds.
Compost tea will have a mildly sweet odor when done
and will turn very sour if over done in which case it
should be dumped.
Easy enough......
We apply compost tea to everything here once every three
weeks. Lawns, flowers, gardens and house plant will all
love the stuff.

Get the organic garden started now.......
Organic Garden
The weather is cutting us a break the last week.
We are removing leaf mulch from the beds and
turning them up a little bit. We will mix in some
green compost, let some air in and then recover
with mulch.
If you have a spot picked out for your organic
garden you can do some prep work now.
If the ground is not frozen go out to the garden bed
and turn it up a little. Don't worry about making
it pretty just break up the surface a bit. This will
let some air in and in cold areas the freeze and thaw
process will break up the ground for you.
You do not need to have a conventional garden to
grow veggies, fruit or herbs. Oregano makes a
great plant for edging flower beds. Tomatos can
grow almost anywhere the sun shines.
